Session #128 - October 20, 1991
Gloria’s Circle

Present: Betty, Bill, Edith, Jean, Jenika, Jnana, Maxine, Myra, Owen, Peter, Sidney,
Vivian, and Gloria with a Teacher from the Temple, possibly Judith. (9:00 a.m., Sunday
at Jean's)

(Betty conducted the worship service before and after a brief channeled message through
Gloria who, having just returned from a speaking tour in California the night before, was
temporarily limited by laryngitis. Betty used a delightful American Indian theme for the
service. A Hadiki meeting followed the worship service, and that was followed by a pot
luck lunch and a bit more Hadiki discussion. The Hadiki meeting is transcribed
separately.)

Worship, American Indian theme

BETTY: Today I want to share with you just a bit of another way of expressing
and experiencing the lessons that the Teachers have taught to us. Before you, down on
the floor, we have what you could call an altar. What it is essentially is a point of focus
to help you recall what you already know inside of you, in the depths of you. The
American Indians use four as their ceremonial number in their rituals. Four represents
the four directions (lighting a candle at each point of the compass): East the time of new
beginning, where the sun rises. South, the midday. West, the time of the sunset and the
time of going within. And North, direction. These represent the four seasons of the year
-- Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. It represents the cycles of life -- infancy, youth,
maturity, and wisdom. It represents the four elements -- earth, fire, water, and air.

The different areas are represented by different animals from the different
tribes. And each animal represents a state of awareness or a state of consciousness. The
eagle or hawk -- that which flies the highest, new beginnings, seeing the farthest, the
overall picture. The South is represented by the mouse, or snake, or coyote. It's the state
of awareness, the consciousness of looking at the details, of being sensitive, of taking
care of that minute thing, a place of learning to trust. There is also the coyote who is the
trickster -- you think you are coming out to learn one lesson, and instead you learn a
different lesson entirely sometimes, the one you really needed. The West is often
represented by the bear. It's the place of water; it's the place of going within. There is a
tradition that the bear says that if you have been abused as a child, that the bear takes you
within and protects you with its great body and its claws until you are able to come out
and protect yourself. The North, the point of old age, of wisdom, is represented in
several ways: by the owl, that ability to see more, even the dark side; represented by the
buffalo, which some tribes say, represent the Great Spirit, because it's all provider --
every bit of the buffalo is used, and the Indians were able to survive by using the buffalo
in their clothes, in their shelters, their instruments, their tools, in all ways. So it is also a
provider. They say the white buffalo calf woman came from the north, and she taught the
Lakota the ceremonies to help them honor Great Spirit. And some of the rituals came
from them.

I have arbitrarily put down something here to represent each of the
kingdoms: the Mineral Kingdom, the Plant Kingdom -- exquisite beauty in a single leaf.
This is a symbol I use for myself, a symbol of centering, of going within. It helps to
remind me, just a point of focus, that this is where we are. And a little feather from my
parakeet who raised my consciousness. Perhaps I did the same for it, but I'm not sure -- a
great addition to my life. He flew free in my house, and added to my life. I didn't realize
that there would be a time when all I had left was the feathers. But it brings a pleasant
memory back to me.

And I asked Owen to bring some red cedar, the giant tree, the healer, the
purifier when it is used in smoke. It is the one the Northwest Indians used as their
purifier to ward off bad spirits, to release, to bring to a point. So each of these directions
have a point. States of consciousness, the elements, life, the Human Race is the red, the
black, yellow, and white. So each one of these represents something, and obviously you
could study in one area for a long time.
Then I think one of the beautiful ceremonies that the Indians have is the
ceremony of smudging. Smudging is used as a symbol of purification, of releasing the
day-by-day things. The Teachers have taught us to purge, to go even deeper in our
cleanings. June says to have an urn outside that you can leave your stuff in. And different
traditions have different things to go with them. But I think that this is particularly a
beautiful ceremony. Only occasionally does someone else smudge you, which is a nice
time. But the Teachers say that no-one else can do it for you -- you must do it all for
yourself. And this is something that I like particularly. It gives me time to take my
responsibility -- the think about what I want to do, to set things aside so that I can go on
learning the lessons, the teachings. And it's my responsibility to do this. ... I will put on a
tape of Indian flute music in the background to cover up any other noise or disturbance.

Now this is called smudging. (Betty ignites a handful of dry cedar twigs and
other herbs in an abalone shell. They smolder giving off a fragrant smoke.) I put in this
smudge bow a bit of sage gathered in the high plains toward Nevada, some lavender from
my garden, the red cedar, sweet grass that traditionally brings in the good spirits, some
river sage that grows right outside my door. It has mullein in it and kinnikinnick.

Smudging represents the four kingdoms, four elements. The sea shell
represents water. We have the plant kingdom. We have the animal kingdom represented
by a special feather from Jean. And we have the air kingdom -- the feather moves. So
we have all of these things.

The way I was taught to smudge is that you take the smoke which is
symbolic of the prayers rising to the Great Spirit, to the other realms, to our Teachers, to
our Source, saying, "We want to be here. We want to learn." It's first drawn into the
heart to purify the heart. And then over the shoulders and down the arms. (Betty wafting
the smoke over her with hand and arm motions) And down the rest of the body. Think in
terms of it going down over the back of you. (missed some -- too faint and too fast)

You can also smudge and purify with water, with the air, with anything.
(smudge offered in turn to each person -- some difficulty with keeping it burning)
Incense is still used by many churches.

Now we will start with the Cosmic Key, the second one -- it is the
AVAILABILITY OF POWER. (Read from Eight Keys through The Key :
INVOCATION.) This was followed by invoking Khamael.

Now let us invoke with the Ah Oo Mm. This time let us call the I am's. And
on the second one let's do "I am" and then your name. The vibration by which you are
called, the vibration you came to get comfortable for, with the vibration you came to
learn the lessons with. Take deep breaths. (done)

And now the invocation with the archangels. As I was told, rich and
abundant life means rich and abundant life for all on our planet. And Haniel, the Divine
Relinquishment enables me to release whatever you wish to release... release the
assumptions, the invalid beliefs, useless fears. And as a result, I am the freedom and joy
of self mastery, I am the rich and abundant life. (Invoked from program Betty provided
entitled, "A New Perspective".

Khamael (3x). I am rich and abundant life.
Gabriel (3x). I will rich and abundant life.
Haniel (3x). Divine Relinquishment enables me, and I purposely release the
assumptions, the invalid beliefs, the useless fears; and I am the freedom and joy of self
mastery. I am rich and abundant life.

And now a song-chant-prayer, again recognizing the elements: "Oh Great
Spirit, Earth, Sun, Sky, and Sea". Earth element; Sun, fire element; Sky, air element; and
Sea, water element. "You are inside and all around me". Again, from this we are
affirming the Divine Dew Drop, that entropriatic cell that separated itself from inside the
Absolute and became the individuality that is us -- not separated from but inside of.
Again we will try this four times. (chanted to a simple melody).

THE CHANNELED MESSAGE

GLORIA: Thank you. I have very little voice, so no doubt the Teachers are going
to be very kind today, and not ask me to talk for too long. That's why I have to whisper,
because I don't have much voice, and it's nothing more than the strain on the vocal chords
of 46 readings and 3 lectures besides visits. I just got home last night from a marvelous
trip. And I have so much information to give you, but there is a great deal of lesson
going on for me as well. But to carry forward our worship service, let me give you what
the Teachers have to say.

This lesson chosen this morning by our facilitator (Betty) is greatly
welcomed, and she is to be congratulated on the excellent job that she has done. It is
most appropriate at this time in the circumstances -- political and economical -- in which
you find yourselves, that you particularly pay attention to this Key. (INVOCATION) ..

Invocation, The Key of; Keys to Cosmic Consciousness; Comfort; Dominance, Law
of; Law of Dominance; Joy, obligation of; Life, Joy and

This Key has greater meaning than first given you. As your studies take you
toward your enlightenment, all of these Keys will be found to have much greater, wider,
and deeper meaning than you have heretofore understood. If you did not experience the
need of COMFORT, you would not come to understand that your primary obligation
under the LAW OF DOMINANCE is to put JOY into LIFE, and not expect LIFE to give
you JOY.It is in the way of the ABSOLUTE putting JOY into itself that It brought forth
LIFE.And LIFE's obligation is to put JOY into EXPERIENCE.If you insist that LIFE
is joyless, then you close down the channels of your awareness and your capacity to
activate your power centers. You lose power when you do not put JOY into your
EXPERIENCE.

Absolute, The, and Joy; Experience, Joy and; Joy, experience and; Joy, Comfort
and

When you ask for COMFORT, what is given you is a form of JOY. As you
accept that comfort and solace and soothing, you come to a point that you can again then,
in your terms, enjoy life. The sooner you reach the awareness that you're putting JOY
into your EXPERIENCE, regardless of the kind of experience it is, the sooner you will
have QUANTIFIED YOUR QUALITY, and increased your VOLITION to the
appropriate degree of relationship to CONSCIOUSNESS that enables you to leave the
INCARNATION CYCLE which puts you under the LAW OF DOMINANCE. And with
this brief message, we give you our joy. We bring you our love, and we bid you go in
peace and joy. Be blessed.

Quality, quantify your; Volition, increase your

BETTY: (Meditation from the second Cosmic Key.)

Another of the great ceremonies of the Indian tribes, one they say is the most
sacred ceremony, is the Give Away. It's possible here when you lay out an altar, to focus
your consciousness on it, to put something beautiful in -- an arrangement of flowers,
something that is precious to you -- a bird feather from a bird that you loved -- something
like this. But I purposefully left the center empty so that you could think a place in that
center for a gift to the Source Group, you give away to your Source Group, the Temple
Teachers, Divine Being, The Absolute, the One from which we have evolved. Take a
few minutes to think on this, of what you could give and place in the center as your give
away. .... If you would like to place something physical on the center (or offer a
thought) remember a thought is a very tangible thing. ..... (Each member in turn placed
something or presented a thought gift, and some shared the significance of what they
presented.)

Let's try one more tradition. Simply say "Ho." honoring what the person has
said afterwards. We will withhold our feelings, our comments -- this is the gift for them.
What we can do most, rather than commenting on it, is just saying "Ho" -- I feel it in my
heart; I honor your words. We wait until the person says "Ho". That way we will know
that they are done, and their not wanting to express more. The speaker says "Ho" and
then you "Ho" to honor them. If you would rather keep your sharing to yourself, this is
fine -- just say "Ho", and we will know. Does this feel comfortable? Gloria, would you
feel comfortable starting?

GLORIA: I had asked Source to help me with abundance to meet obligations
coming up, and they gave me this trip to Redding, and they gave me the abundance to the
exact penny that I needed. And in the doing of this, this fulfilling my part, I had not done
what I needed to do to protect the body, so I have stress in my throat, and you know that
is our power center. And one of the messages that was given to me is that I must not be
so careless about water anymore. I must always have my filtered water with me. So as I
asked what I should put on the altar, it was my water, my dedication to all the Teachings,
to accept the abundance, and then I gave from my heart in the center. Ho. (Group
responds with "Ho".)

Abundance; Throat, power center; Water, filtered

(And this continued around the circle in the direction followed by the Sun.)

BETTY: Perhaps you would like to put your hands out and feel the beauty, the
love, the gratitude and appreciation, and the things too deep to express... We offer this of
our beings. And now close your hands together and bring into you.

Another "give away" that we might like to do is a more tangible give away to
express to the Teachers and to our communication with the Teachers the symbol of our
thanks. So this could be a "give away" for Gloria and all her time. We place something
in that all of us have that Gloria has given away to us, and we can place this in the center
as a "give away". Now, one of the things about a "give away" that is most, most, most
important is that you expect nothing in return.

Give Away, American Indian tradition
You might even practice it this week sometime if you can. For instance,
someone said a wonderful give away is when you are going through a toll bridge, pay the
toll for the person behind you. You haven't the faintest idea who they are, and you know
you'll never see them again. That's a "give away" -- you expect nothing in return. So you
might think in terms of what can be my give away? And remember, it's Biblical -- "As
you do to the least of these, you do also unto me." And whatever is fine -- I think it's fun.

(Group stands for blessing, holding hands.)

Let the peace of God dwell within us.
With joy, we bless Hadiki and this circle of learning.
With thanksgiving we gratefully acknowledge, accept, and use the lessons as we
evolve.
With love we dedicate ourselves to shine as greater and greater lights on our Earth
walk, on our path of Initiation.
And let it be so.

(Closed with singing the prayer/chant four times, and "Let there be joy on Earth". Many
expressions of appreciation to Betty.)

(The HADIKI session that followed the worship service has been transcribed separately.)
