On Creativity 8/4/10

It is said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and that is possibly so. But the
more important value in anything is the creativity behind it. One might say that art
is a function of the heart. It is the product of the creator, not by reason or
determination, but because the creator cannot help but do it.

A poet writes poetry because the words fall out of his mind. A painter uses
mundane brush strokes and color because he needs to see what is inside
himself. A song is written from a full heart that cannot contain the melody any
longer. It does not matter whether or not the product is enjoyed, appreciated or
even known, so long as the creator gives expression to his inner self.

Poetry, paintings and songs are only a few of the many ways in which the
Intention of Creativity is made fulfilled. Actually in every thought, word and deed
Creativity is manifest to some extent. To those born of the Soul Intention of
Creativity, the flood of product cannot be held back. To those born of another
Soul Intention, Creativity may not be a major part of a life, except as it is manifest
through evolutionary development.

As a species evolves it develops its own methods of continuity and perpetuity
until such time as its species is no longer needed for the process of evolution. So
as humans you will demonstrate a degree of creativity in everything you think
and do because that is necessary to your survival. But one born under another
Intention, the creativity is merely automatic and virtually unnoticed. Humans born
under the Intention of Creativity cannot help but be noticed for the things they
provide for the pleasure, uplifting and benefit of others.

As you have been told the act of appreciation increases the intrinsic value of
what is appreciated. Therefore the product of a creative person continues to gain
intrinsic value because of the pleasure or benefit it gives others, but its main
purpose is to fulfill the need to be creative. No matter how small the product, a
simple drawing of a stick figure for instance, the value in its creativity is
immeasurable.

So if you have a song in your heart, give voice to it. If you like to scribble silly
limericks, do it. If you want to paint a wall purple do it. It is not the practical or
commercial value of a product that is important, but the act of producing it.

Even though you may not be one born under the Intention of Creativity, every
time you give vent to some act of creativity, no matter how small, you add to the
overall value of your species and to the accomplishment of Universal goals.
