Note on Quantification of Quality 3/17/10
Quantify Quality
As a phrase, to the "uninitiated", that requires definitions. Could we say to "derive and provide
benefit"? Is that essentially the same thing, but in simpler terms?
I think it goes beyond that. Certainly that would be one of the “qauntifications” but also to be
included would be “appreciation” which the teachers made much of elsewhere. “Gratitude
expressed is another way to quantify quality. Belittling and ridicule diminish quantification while
compliments (must be sincere) and congratulations are another way to quantify. As we
encourage, support, and comfort each other we also quantify. Then again, this may all be
included in “provide benefit”. Perhaps I am over-thinking, although I am only quoting what I
remember the teachers to have said.
