SESSION #5 – SEPTEMBER 18, 1982
Gloria’s Circle
Present: LaMar Bell, Ida Nevala, Nestor and Myra Perala, Larry and Eileen
Horton, Owen and Maxine Cramer, Harry and Helen Barnes, Richard and
Mary White
With four new people who have joined the Circle, we spent about an hour reviewing
discussing the concepts which have been presented in the past four sessions. We referred
to transcripts which have been prepared to clarify forgotten topics and misconceptions to
the benefit of the entire group. We sang from song sheets prepared by Richard and Mary
White with the first song “Getting To Know You” dedicated to Silverthistle.
Silverthistle came through very quickly and strongly, in contrast to the effort which he
expended in the first few sessions.
S/T: Good Evening. Welcome to this evening. We are very glad to be here. (The
group offers greetings.) We are very pleased with your decision. With regularity
things will become clearer and communication more ready. As my instrument has
more practice and I have more practice, too, we will synchronize much more
quickly and the communication will not be as slow and tedious. But at this time we
are both learning how to cooperate with each other and thus we ask your patience.
Let us begin with a healing service to those who need it so badly. As you were
instructed last time, do envision a blue and green energy as they are promoted by
the friction of your body. (Everyone vigorously rubs hands together). That will do.
Now let us gather those that we wish to serve into the circle and do not forget to
include my instrument and her mother, and Violet. (Group begins to intercede for
their loved ones and spend several minutes at this.)
Very good. Now let us join our palms and rub them vigorously to generate
the healing energy. Don’t forget to visualize the blue and green energy… It becomes
an iridescent shower of healing… Brilliant. That was very beautiful. And we thank
you from this side. Blessings.
Myra: Thank you, Silverthistle.
Richard: Blessings to you.
S/T: Now it is time for my homily. You must have patience with these
because they are the basis for other things to come.
“Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.” The meek are
not those who are lacking in courage or self-respect, or those who are hypocrites.
They are not those who are mean of effort or thought or lacking in ambition or
desire. But rather the meek are those who entertain a willingness to follow the
divine will and guidance. The earth is that portion of your circumstances which you
directly create for yourself, and over which you must retain and maintain dominion.
As you remain porous to the guidance given you, you develop new ways of thinking,
and new ways of dealing and perspectives, and new ways of believing and acting in
your environment.
When you were taught about being poor in spirit, that was talking
about attributes of character and personality. When this is taught about being
meek, it is speaking of your actions and your behavior patterns that you develop in
early childhood and before, and thus inherit the earth. In other words have
complete dominion over your own life.
Each of these homilies will concern one of the Beatitudes until we have
reached them all, but in each case, the teaching is presenting a Cosmic Law that
applies to physical life that is in the flesh. But it also applies to life in our condition.
We are subject to severer penalties than you are because we are supposed to know a
bit more than you do… Does anyone have a question about what has just been
given?
Myra: I would like to ask if you could clarify again the condition of meek.
Would this have anything to do with knowing your strengths as well as your weaknesses?
And acting accordingly? Is that what meek would be?
S/T: That certainly would be a part of it. You will recall when being taught
about being poor in spirit, you were told about avoiding pride and arrogance. It is
man’s condition to strive for power and in the material world. One is not able to be
truly powerful unless he has developed a condition of meekness which enables him
to follow without question the divine will. When following the divine will, he will
never stray from the divine pathway and thus will always be in control of his own
destiny. Does that help?
Myra: That helps a lot. Thank you.
S/T: Very well, we will at this time entertain questions from any of you
who wish to present them.
Richard: You said that in your condition, you were subject to more chastisement
than we are when you strayed off the path. Can you clarify that any more?
S/T: At this particular time I would like to reserve comment. That will
come out at a later session after you have more foundation.
Richard: Very good, thank you.
Owen: I’d like to ask if the condition of meekness is the same as humility.
S/T: Humility is one facet of meekness. Mildness, gentleness, modesty and
humility, but not the humility of self-denigration or self-abnegation, but the
meekness of self-confidence that you are indeed a worthy person, a child of God and
entitled to have dominion over your own life.
Richard: We were discussing something you said in a previous session in regard to
suffering. You said that most of us call on the Comforter only in a time of our suffering.
And this is when we learn. Is this the ideal way for us to grow or is there a better way? Or
conditional way for us to learn to grow.
S/T: There are many ways in which you will learn, in which you will grow,
in which you will evolve. This Beatitude is a Cosmic Law that when interpreted and
practiced properly gives you access to divine comfort. There are those in travail who
blame their (lack of) dominion over their lives and give their freedom into the
control of others. Does that answer your question?
Harry Barnes: You said “into the control of others.” Does that mean the negative force?
S/T: There are always those around you, not only in the physical, but also
in the Spirit-Physical, that will feed on your hatred and your anger. Anytime you
experience strong emotions you offer food for other people. Others are always there
to absorb you energy. You are in constant exchange of energy with those around
you, both in the physical and Spirit-Physical, and you become most vulnerable to
control when you are intensely emotionally involved in hatred and what you call the
negative emotions. You are most easily manipulated to serve the ends of others than
you are to serve the ends of your own purpose.
Myra: I have found when I get intensely emotional about something, I usually get
sick. It almost always follows.
S/T: Your fleshly form is an outward manifestation of the condition of
your mind and heart at any given time, so, of course, when you have negative
feelings you are going to have a negative response in the flesh.
Myra: When we feel emotion… Each day some of us have learned to ask for
protection. Would you tell me if this is valuable? Is this a real help for us to ask for this
help?
S/T: It most certainly is. It is one factor of meekness that you can admit
there are more powerful forces at work in your life than those over which you have
direct control. It is as though you wish for light to read by, but do not turn on the
lamp, and then curse the darkness. You need help. Open the channel through which
it can come and this is done in your condition by asking. “Ask and ye shall receive.”
Myra: Is there any one being or angel… or who should we ask?
S/T: It does not matter that you can identify a single entity. As your lessons
proceed all this will be explained to you, and you will become more aware of the
various sources of comfort and sustenance and healing which are available to you.
LaMar: Could you explain placing the white lights around ourselves, our loved
ones, or our property?
S/T: You are asking what happens when you place a shield of white light
around things and people? This has a physical manifestation, although you cannot
see it with your physical eye unless you have developed the talent to do so. But as
you emanate the vibration of the thought, your set in force, set in motion, the forces
which build a field of electromagnetic energy. Your physical world’s technology has
learned to create these kinds of fields with mechanical devices simply because you
have lost the know-how and the ability to do it with your mind. There is nothing
supernatural about the phenomenon. It is viable, valid, and to be used. That is what
it is for.
LaMar: Thank you.
Myra: You can do it from a distance? Like I could send white light to any place
in the world?
S/T: Most certainly. I shall give you an example of why and how this
works. If you float a cork in water and you create waves, the waves go on away from
the cork and the cork stays where it is. Is that not so? So, what is happening is that
particles of water are exerting energy or pressure against other particles and thus
the motion continues until the motion wears itself out. Do you understand how
waves occur? Consequently then, when you think, you create a force which exerts
(pressure) against the particles of ethereal matter of which this shield is comprised.
That is why it is very important that you put a great deal of emotional energy into
the desire that the effect take place so that your thought does not wear out before it
reaches its destination.
Maxine: Is this another way of saying that thoughts are things?
S/T:Yes, your thoughts are physical in a certain manner. There is the non-
physical mind which has the idea and the physical mind that gives the idea form,
and the physical brain and the nerve centers of the fleshly body which give it force
and push it out into action and manifestation.
Myra: So this would work with prayer as well wouldn’t it? The more powerful
you feel the desire, the stronger the prayer and its force?
S/T: That is what prayer is.
Richard: You said that we need to generate emotional energy in order that this
wave-force does not wear out. Is that saying that distance is a factor?
S/T:Yes, distance is a factor, but you have the power to reach around the world
numerous times with one thought-wave.
Myra: Isn’t that exciting?
S/T: If you would just stop to consider those surprising miracles when a
frail little woman lifts a physical vehicle off her loved one who is pinned beneath,
you can see where the intensity, the emotional desire, plays its part in the strength of
the physical.
Unidentified voice: That means that her skeletal structure may not have the strength to
do this but under stress her emotions give her superhuman power.
S/T:It’s a physical phenomenon that emotional intense desire draws in
additional etheric substance to give strength to the skeletal structure and more
closely adheres muscles and ligaments to that structure to perform this otherwise
impossible feat. If you were to talk to someone who had just had that experience, he
would tell you that he felt an out rushing when he relaxes the effort.
Voice: Would he feel any pain?
S/T: He should not feel any after-pain such as you feel in an over-exercised
muscle because the muscle and skeletal structure would not have been over-
exercised for its capability at that moment in time.
Voice: We are interested in the best way in which to use prayer and meditation.
We were discussing it earlier and wondering what prayer should consist of – maybe
we’re getting ahead of your sequence here.
S/T: As a matter of fact, Gloria is giving a lecture on the elements of
effective prayer next Saturday at the Spiritual Frontiers Fellowship meeting, and we
will be discussing methods and modes of prayer later in your course of instruction.
Voice: Good. Thank you.
Myra: An important subject!
S/T: Most of you – even though you practice meditation and prayer on a
regular basis – fail to appreciate what kind of a tool it really is.
Voice: That’s what we want to know – how to do a better job in this.
Voice: We need to motivate ourselves to do a better job – to be more effective.
S/T: And that is one of the reasons why some of the teachers are coming in
and signing up.
Myra: They’re signing up? You mean on that side, they’re signing up?
S/T: Did you think we have no organization over here?
Voice: We didn’t think you needed pencils is all. We thought you would just
think your name onto the dotted line.
S/T: I did not say they were writing names.
Voice: It is hard for us to imagine this Spirit Physical – I guess gradually we’ll
begin to understand.
Voice: You mean they’re excited about helping us?
S/T: Absolutely – the joy that is present here cannot be expressed in your
terms. We are always delighted to find a group of eager and interested minds
because it means this planet and earth expression is moving towards the divine goal.
I, of course, do not have the total picture, and I will not be giving you more than I
can understand, but I am (responsible for) your orientation guidance.
Voice: And as they help us, they also help themselves?
S/T:As we fulfill our mission, as we are given you to teach, most certainly
we are then fulfilling our purposes also.
LaMar: Can you give us the means of getting into a deep meditation?
S/T: “I am that I am”. As you watch yourself and become a detached
observer, then detach further and watch that detached observer, and then again
watch the detached observer watching the detached observer – as you go step by
step further away from the realm of the material, you expand into the world of the
immaterial and there your guidance will lead you into that state of meditation that is
desirable for you to attain at the moment you are making the effort. Does that help
you?
LaMar: Yes, very, very much. Should we place the white lights around us before
we attempt meditation, to protect us from those that might want to come in but should not
be there?
S/T: The white light will protect your physical, mental and emotional body.
Your divine guidance always has protection around your higher self.
LaMar: Very, very good, thank you.
Myra: I think Helen has a question for you Silverthistle.
Helen: My father died almost a year ago, and I have the feeling that rather than
going to a higher plane, he is holding himself rather in a corridor, and I don’t understand
why he would be doing this. Can you help me?
S/T: I will have to make some special effort to make contact in that realm
as I have not come prepared to make such communication for you, but I will do
what I can at some other time if you will have the kindness to be patient about this.
Helen: Thank you. Can a soul choose to do that?
S/T: Choices are not always made consciously and some of the
consequences that we experience are not always the consequence of the choices we
have made. Sometimes we accept choices that have been made for us by others.
Thus we accept the consequences of those choices as well. No matter how well you
may think you know and understand another person, it is not possible for you to
know all that goes on within that mind and heart. Indeed privacy of mind is
absolutely protected against telepathy even in the spirit world.
Thus if there is something that you do not wish known, it cannot be
picked from your brain except by your own higher self for your own self benefit.
Thus many questions you may have about those who have left you may not be
answerable. I can only inquire of those who may know or be in charge. I will see
what I can do before we meet again, but you must be aware that I cannot take on
too many extra-curricular activities for I already have a very busy schedule.
Richard: We can appreciate that.
S/T: This then is why it is a good thing to have meetings on a regular basis
so that I can anticipate and have things ready.
Myra: Silverthistle, would it help for you to have Helen’s father’s name?
S/T: That would, of course, narrow down the inquiry because I would have
to start with her vibration and trace it through the family ties.
Helen: Robert Maximilian Cook.
S/T: Very well. It has been duly noted.
Myra: I’m interested that you said that you have a busy schedule. In other words
when we reach the corridor of transition, we may find ourselves scheduled all over again
– huh? We don’t get relief from that?
S/T: There is a time of intermission depending upon your physical
condition. You may go to a hospital. Depending on your desires for learning and the
consequences of the efforts that you have made before transition, you may be sent to
a school. Depending on skills developed, you may also be given duties, but you will
most certainly not be idle. There is no such thing as rolling around heaven all day.
(shock, laughing, etc.)
Voice: What determines the time that we spend on the other side before we can
maybe come back?
S/T: The same thing that determines how long you spend here between
birth and death.
Voice: What is that?
S/T: As I said before, this will all be revealed at the time when you can best
understand it.
Myra: I have a question, Silverthistle. Last time, or the time before, you
mentioned that in the Spirit-Physical Realm there is sex, and that you were born in that
realm. There is pregnancy and physical birth? The same as here,,, and babies? …pregnant
mothers?
S/T: It is not identical with your fleshly experience, but we indeed are born
through travail. Our mothers had sex with our fathers. We were given a gestation
period. Your gestation period will be explained to you and how your bodies came (as
they are.) I was born an infant. I grew up being educated, being led by the hand,
and fed candy. I have been to school. I have been trained for what I am doing, and
before I transition from this condition, I will be trained for other things. I will do
many more jobs than I am doing now. I am at this time doing what I have been
trained to do, and when I have done this to the satisfaction of those who guide my
life, I will then go on to higher studies and greater experiences, even as you do in
your circumstances.
Voice: Will we look forward to doing the same thing after we pass through the
corridor, or is there another phase later on in our… (here the tape ended).
S/T: …and when healed be re-cycled into the flesh, or if not able to be
healed, re-cycled into the flesh with the deformities you have brought upon you.
There may be one among you that has learned such great things in this short span of
physical experience that he will not need to come back into this experience, but he
may be born again into Spirit-Physical. There will be further dissertation as to what
you may expect at a later time.
Voice: One incarnation doesn’t necessarily give you a higher experience on the
other side?
S/T: At any given time in the travel of the spirit from Soul-Body back to
Soul-Body, the experience which you have will be a culmination of all experience
since you have been on that journey. You are not going to have some significant
transformation just simply because you throw off this flesh shell that you now wear.
You are going to remain the same person that you are, -- at least for a time.
Maxine: Can you please tell me why I came in with a twin brother? Why are twins
born?
S/T: That is a genetic condition of the fleshly body. Spirit does not pre-determine
when, but when twin bodies become available they may be selected for particular
inhabitation. Again, this is something that will be explained later.
LaMar: I have been told that I came back to take two lives in one during this
incarnation. Is this possible?
S/T: Oh Yes! You may have more than two at any given time. Again, when
we get into numbers this will become more clear to you.
Maxine: I would like to ask another question about twins. Is there a difference
between fraternal twins or twins that are brothers and sisters?
S/T: Brothers and sisters are fraternal twins. There is only identical twins
of the same sex when the ovum divides. When identical twins are born, they are
actually mirror images, and not identical. Thus you will have mirror spirits, too.
Maxine: Mirror spirits? Would that be the same as soul?
S/T: Remember in earlier lessons we talked bout the soul body and the
manifestation of incarnation from the same soul body. Each manifestation is unique
in itself, unlike any other. Even with the genetic phenomena of a divided ovum the
fleshly body is not identical. The finger prints, foot prints, skin patterns and hair
cellular structure are all uniquely individual. But you will find certain mental and
emotional likenesses which are mirror-like within identical twins.
You will not find these in fraternal twins. The reason for this….
again, I must beg you to be patient for later sessions when the ground work has been
properly laid. At that time the teacher who is to give you this information and who
has been educated to do so will be present and will make herself known.
Richard: Gee, this is exciting.
Myra: When can we do this? How long will it be before we will be able to do
that?
S/T: When your group becomes stabilized, and we can depend on you all
being at the same level of comprehension of the information because you do
understand the subject matter now.
Myra: In other words we shouldn’t bring more people in. We should not include
anybody else in our group.
S/T: If you are certain that the group you now have is the one that is going
to be more or less stable. Again, that decision will be reached from this side, and
you are going to have to put up with me until that time is reached.
Myra: That won’t be hard to do. We won’t mind. We are very pleased to have
you with us.
Question – quite long – impossible to hear on the tape – a lady’s voice.
S/T: I would not say there was some deeply hidden esoteric message since
your comprehension hinges upon your interpretation of what happens to you in
physical terms. If I were not talking to you through this physical instrument (Gloria)
I would probably try to (find) some other kind of physical instrument. The one most
commonly used in your physical experience is the telephone. It is not unusual for
loved ones who are trying to make contact with fleshly loved ones to stimulate those
centers of the brain which present to you images of your physical world. Now if you
are able to receive a message over that telephone, then you might have a message
from spirit other than the contact we are now experiencing. Does that answer your
question?
Voice: Inaudible (something to do with waking up in the morning with a certain
odor which others could not smell.)
S/T: Odor is a common physical manifestation for Spirit-Physical people to
use. It is also a manifestation for higher levels of beings to use. Sometimes it’s simply
an indication of a blessing whereas a spirit being might not be able to get through to
you in some other way. In this way it’s saying “I bless you”. Sometimes the odor
that comes is one that is identifiable with the individual who is sending it your way,
and again it is an indication that you are being contacted. Sometimes it merely
means to say “I am here”, “I am with you”.
LaMar: Silverthistle, I have had some extremely interesting healing through the
healers in the Philippines. Can you tell me anything about what actually happens when
these people are able to open the body and do what needs to be done and the body closes.
S/T: Again I must tell you that the teacher that will teach you these things
will come to you in due time. But again I must emphasize this is a physical process.
You are dealing with a physical fleshly body so we can penetrate them as your body
penetrates the ether about you. The healing process which you describe will be gone
into in greater detail in a special session, so I ask your patience.
I know it sounds like I am trying to titillate your taste buds and
indeed that is quite so, but please know that you must be patient for there is much,
much that you must learn before you can comprehend some of the higher cosmic
laws. That is why I have been given the obligation and responsibility to bring you
the very basic laws of human existence as they are expressed through your holy
scriptures. There is all the truth that you need to know toward exemplary living
presented in that document. We will, of course, not go through it word by word. We
will take those things which are pertinent to you at this time, to lay the foundation
for you to learn some of the higher laws of cosmic existence and thus prepare you to
be more effective when you make your own transition, as well as to retain and
maintain the proper command and control of your own environment and to assist
you in developing your creativity for there is much you can do that you are not
doing in the way of shaping and molding your material world.
LaMar: I’m sure those basics of which you speak will be most welcome by all of
us. They are probably equally or more important than the questions which we might ask.
S/T: But it is exciting to those over here that you are asking the questions.
Those of you here who are teachers know how excited you are when one of your
small ones asks precocious questions.
Voice: It is difficult to know what category of questions we should ask.
S/T: All of your questions are welcome because it demonstrates to us your
interest and your emotional involvement. I ask again for your patience when I must
put you off.
Myra: Silverthistle, I want to mention the class that’s going to start next Tuesday
night that Ira Gillet is sponsoring through Spiritual Frontiers called “Paranormal in the
Bible”, and I think that this might be a place where we can go to stretch our minds about
the bible and how the paranormal is revealed to us.
S/T: That class has been in preparation. Conditions have simply been
wrong to attract to it spirit people who will be there to learn, to participate and to
teach when the time is right, that they can make themselves known.
Myra: I’ll pass that message along. That goes along with Gloria’s speech next
Saturday afternoon.
Voice: Have you finished all your incarnations on the earth plane?
S/T: At this time I do not know entirely what the future holds any more
than you know what your next life will hold for you. I can only make educated
guesses about the future of the life which I am now living.
As I said before, when I have finished this responsibility I will again
be sent into training to perform something more important that will continue to
have increasing responsibility and thus I shall be growing, too.
Voice: Silverthistle, I have a curiosity. As you are communicating through Gloria,
are you aware of each of us as individuals?
S/T: I am more aware of you as discreet bundles of energy than fleshly
beings. I am aware of your energy fields and sometimes aware of your emotional
stresses. But I try to focus my attention on the business at hand rather than trying to
be the great Swami.
Myra: I was wondering if we should introduce ourselves to you at the beginning
of our circle. Would that help any?
S/T: It would be a great help, of course, but again labels are not that
important.
Myra: Would you like us to do it then or would you like us not to?
S/T: It is a matter for the group to decide inasmuch as any time you speak
your name, you are putting your personal power into whatever is going on.
Myra: Then why don’t we do it? Would you like for us to do it now?
S/T: Inasmuch as it is almost time to draw this session to a close, I would
suggest that it is not any longer necessary.
Voice: Silverthistle, since it is almost time to close are there any instructions for
us that we might work on to help prepare for future sessions?
S/T: Study the Homilies. Get clear in your mind the meaning of the
Beatitudes which are Cosmic Laws. Attempt to see them in the light of being cosmic
law, not something which you may choose to be effective. (They) are effective in and
of themselves, except that you must push the switch to make them effective in your
life such as using the electricity to light a light bulb. If you will ponder what has
been taught, you will be of the greatest service to the group.
Myra: I’m wondering if there is anything that we could consider saying to the
people we come in contact with. What I have learned in this group is very exciting, and
yet I wonder how many people should I talk to about it.
S/T: That, again, is something that is your personal responsibility. It is up
to you to control the flesh world in which this transpires. Spirit will help you
inasmuch as they are given to help you, remembering always that there is no such
thing as an accident.
Several “thank you’s”.
Nestor: What should I be doing to further my spiritual growth?
S/T: I would choose to tell you at this time that there is a board of directors
for this whole effort. I am given the word that we will have one session solely for
personal questions of that nature. You will be told when it will occur and thus have
your questions ready. The whole session will be devoted to that rather than to a
lesson. In that way those of us here who are responsible for your education can be
prepared to meet your questions. Is that satisfactory?
There followed various comments and discussion among the group, and general
blessings and “good-bye’s” from everyone to Silverthistle. The session ended with group
singing “Blessed be the tie that binds”. As Gloria rejoined us she made the comment,
“Oh, what a lovely way to come back. In answer to the question whether or not she
listened to the tapes, Gloria replied, “No, I read the transcript. I can’t bear to listen to the
tape.” The evening concluded with fellowship and food.
